Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre has undergone a successful surgery in Saudi Arabia.
Plumptre sustained the injury while in action for Saudi club, Al Ittihad last month. The injury forced her to miss Nigeria’s 2024 Olympic Games qualifier against the Banyana Banyana of South Africa.
The former Leicester City player took to her X account on Sunday night, April 21, to announce the information of her surgical procedure and thank the club, national group, as well as her fans for their support.
She wrote: “Thanks to everyone at @ittiladiesclub and to Dr Pieter D’Hooge at @Aspetar for supporting me through my first surgery.
“It’s been a long time coming trying to get solutions however I’m so grateful to now be at this stage.
“To my @NGSuper_Falcons teammates and Nigerian fans… thank you for your patience and understanding when I’ve not been capable of be with you. I can truthfully say I’ve fought as exhausting and for as long as I can with this ache. I can’t wait to be again wholesome with you all.
“My club – @ittiladiesclub. I’m so grateful to be surrounded by some really nice humans at this club. Thanks, all of you, for helping me through and supporting me every step of the way.
