An operative of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Oyo State Police Command identified as Saheed SARS allegedly shot and killed a corps member recognized as Iyanda Damilola in Ogbomoso Local Government Area of Oyo State on Tuesday, April 23.
Punch reported that Saheed is popular among students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso for assaults, most especially “Yahoo boys”.
The deceased’s brother, Iyanda Oluwafemi, who graduated from LAUTECH, on Monday, told the publication that he sustained injuries from bullets shot by Saheed.
Narrating what happened, the graduate of Accounting and Management Sciences stated he and his brother had been heading for an after-party after they met the trigger-happy cop.
He stated;
“Yesterday was our convocation, and we were at a lounge (name withheld) for a convocation party around 2am when we heard that some people were fighting outside. Once we discovered that the place was getting rowdy, we stepped out only to see policemen dispersing the crowd and shooting directly on the people.
“I sustained bullet wounds, however my brother, who got here for my convocation, was shot within the head. He was confirmed dead at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital and was taken to the mortuary this morning.
“As I speak with you, I’m on the clinic for my treatment. The injuries are deep, and I can’t however seek justice for my innocent brother.”
When requested if he may recognise the policemen who got here for the operation, Oluwafemi stated he was certain of Saheed SARS as a result of he led them to the place to disperse the crowd.
He added;
“I noticed him handling the gun; he was shooting with one hand until he shot my brother.”
