A pair of Premier League footballers have been arrested after a rape was reported to police.
According to Mail Online, the two unnamed footballers from the same club have been arrested on the weekend.
One player, 19, was reportedly spoken to by police on suspicion of assault and aiding and abetting a rape on the club stadium earlier than he was formally arrested after leaving the grounds.
He was detained in a single day and was later questioned by police below warning.
The opposite participant, who can also be 19, was arrested the day after and was later quizzed by officers on suspicion of rape.
Each players have reportedly now been released on bail pending additional enquiries.
The alleged rape reportedly came about on Friday night time, with the alleged sufferer contacting police and filing a proper complaint hours later.
A police spokesperson advised The Solar: ‘Officers have arrested two males following a report of a rape.
‘A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and aiding and abetting a rape. A second 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape.
‘Each males have since been released on police bail.’
A supply additionally advised The Solar that police arrived on the stadium and spoke to one of many players in ‘a non-public room inside the floor’.
They added that he left the club with ‘one other individual’ and was formally arrested later that night time.
A membership spokesman advised The Solar: ‘Because the matter is now within the arms of the police, the Football Club won’t be making further comment at this stage.’
It isn’t the primary time the Premier League has been on the centre of a police investigation over an alleged rape.
Manchester United ahead Mason Greenwood, 22, was charged with tried rape, assault and coercive behaviour in October 2022.
The case towards him was subsequently dropped in February 2023 after key witnesses withdrew. Greenwood denied all of the allegations towards him.
After an inside club investigation, the choice was taken to ship Greenwood out on loan to Spanish club Getafe.
