Nigerian musician Tems has opened up about her time in a Ugandan jail in 2020, describing it as a “blessing in disguise.”Tems and fellow artist Omah Lay have been detained by Ugandan authorities on allegations of breaching COVID-19 laws following their performances at a live performance in Kampala on December 12, 2020.
Their arrest sparked widespread consideration, resulting in their launch just a few days later with the help of the Nigerian authorities. In an interview with ES Journal, Tems shared her perspective on the ordeal, expressing gratitude for the expertise, and stating that it served as a humbling journey for her. The “Harm” singer considered her time in jail as an honour and emphasised the way it contributed to her private progress and humility.
