The police in Ekiti State have arrested a set of twins – Taiwo and Kehinde Olasoji – and two others – Funke Afolayan and Nnaji Aroh for burglary and receiving stolen items.
The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti Command, Mr Adeniran Akinwale, stated that twins had been arrested on April 25 “whereas trying to break a store at Mathew Street, Odo-Ado, Ado Ekiti.
The CP, in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, stated that “throughout interrogation, the suspects confessed to the fee of the crime.
“They additional said that they had been responsible for burgling three shops in Fayemi Market at Agric Olope, Ado Ekiti the place they carted away two bags of rice, two luggage of beans and other valuables valued at N936,750.
“Additional investigation by the command’s Rapid Response Squad led to the arrest of 1 Afolayan Funke and Nnaji Benignus Aroh who the suspects claimed had been receiving stolen properties from them,” the assertion added.
The commissioner stated that “the suspects might be arraigned accordingly.”
The commissioner had on March 25 paraded some suspects together with a burglary suspect who burgled a retailer on the Ekiti airport on March 7 and stole some iron rods.
Akinwale had stated, “Upon the receipt of the information, the command’s Speedy Response Squad swung into motion and 18 lengths of 12mm iron rods valued N261,000 had been discovered within the possession of the suspect arrested.
“Throughout interrogation, the suspect confessed to the fee of the crime and additional stated that he had been previously concerned in stealing quite a few iron rods from the location.”
The commissioner had implored all residents to be safety aware, vigilant and report any untoward incident or taking place noticed of their locality to the nearest police station.
